About the Event
It marks the beginning of the Durga Puja festivities and to honor the ancestors and invite the goddess Durga to descend to Earth. Mahalaya not only marks the onset of Durga Puja but also showcases the rich cultural heritage of Bengal. It brings together communities, fostering a sense of unity and devotion.
